Road construction public info session Oct 17
The City of Ottawa is holding a public information session on road reconstruction Oct. 17 about an upcoming year-long road reconstruction project.
The session is to inform residents about an “infrastructure improvement” project taking place next spring on Oakhill Rd., Corona Ave., Carsdale Ave. and the laneway between Carsdale and Green Ave.
Crews will be replacing watermain and sewer lines that are nearing the end of the their lifespan. The work will involve road reconstruction, along with added traffic calming features.
The work is expected to take place in spring 2024 and be completed by spring 2025.
The city website on the project summarizes the work as
- Separate the combined sewer (into a new sanitary sewer and new storm sewer), replace the watermain, add traffic calming features, and complete full road reconstruction on Oakhill Road (Acacia Avenue to Beechwood Avenue).
- Separate the combined sewer (into a new sanitary sewer and new storm sewer), add traffic calming features, and complete full road reconstruction on Corona Avenue (Acacia Avenue to Beechwood Avenue). The watermain does not require replacement.
- Replace the watermain and resurface the road on Carsdale Avenue (Acacia Avenue to Black Maple Private).
- Resurface asphalt on the paved laneway between Carsdale Avenue and Green Avenue.
Hydro poles
Unrelated to the city work, Hydro Ottawa intended to replace all of the hydro poles along Oakhill and Corona at some point this year. However, the strike that lasted over the summer has likely delayed this.
The city’s public information session on year-long road reconstruction October 17 takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rockcliffe Park Community Centre, 380 Springfield Rd.
