Natalie Ethier

Hello! I’m one of the Chronicle‘s new Buzz columnists. I’ve lived in Manor Park, along with my husband and two children, since 2015. Hailing from the shores of Lake Huron in southwestern Ontario, I enjoy Ottawa for its greenspaces, the Greenbelt and its bike paths.

Unfamiliar with Manor Park when we first moved here, my husband and I have been pleasantly surprised as we settled in with our young family. The kindness and sense of community adds vibrance to the flora and fauna of the neighbourhood.

Our children attend Manor Park Public School and enjoy the care and support of staff. They love that they can walk to three different playgrounds, local tennis courts, the Ottawa River, the RCMP horse stables, and a City of Ottawa wading pool. How lucky is that?

The experience that I bring to the Chronicle incudes an undergraduate degree in anthropology, sociology, and psychology, as well as a graduate certificate in human resources management. I volunteer with the Manor Park Tenant Union and Manor Park School Council, as well as with some students and staff of Laurentian University in support of Indigenous initiatives. When writing, I bring empathy and analysis to my work while striving to maintain the authenticity of those represented in my writings. I look forward to writing for future issues and meeting the Chronicle community.

Mark Lindenberg

I’m one of the Chronicle’s new Buzz columnists. My wife and I moved to this area in 2022 with our cat Bunky, and I knew I wanted to return to professional writing. Having written essays for local magazines and produced human interest and fundraising materials for newsletters, working as one of two Chronicle Business Buzz writers seemed like a great fit.

This position gives me the chance to get to know people where we live, close to Cardinal Glen, and get to know the good, the bad, and the everything-in-between, of Ottawa and the surrounding area.

I’ve worked in communications for 24 years,as a freelancer and full-time employee, in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec. Seven years spent working at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue as a full-time (and subsequently certified) French-to-English translator has morphed into a freelance connection, 20 years strong.

As an English-language writer in Quebec, I wrotefeature articles, event reviews, and opinion for the now-defunct Life in Quebec magazine and covered local happenings in Quebec City for the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph newspaper, discovering an appreciation for baseball along the way.

I’ve had cerebral palsy since birth and now use a wheelchair for mobility. It allowsme to be more mobile for longer periods of time, making it so much easier and more enjoyable to engage in everything life has to offer. Tools likee mail and videoconferencing technology make it even easier still to stay connected to a city and neighbourhood that I look forward to exploring for many years to come.
