It’s almost over.

The more than year-long integrated renewal project in Manor Park has entered the home stretch.

Heavy equipment, dug-up roads and inconvenient detours have been the norm for residents living on six local streets. But for those along Finter Street and Jeffrey Avenue, as well as parts of Farnham Crescent, Kilbarry Crescent, Arundel Avenue and Braemar Street, the end is now in sight.

“Most work is anticipated to be complete by the end of November,” notes Josée Vallée, City of Ottawa Manager, Design and Construction – Municipal, in an email exchange with the Chronicle.

The $1.8 million project launched in July 2025. It was the subject of a protracted community-wide debate over the installation of sidewalks. It wasn’t until April 2026 that city council finally voted to have them included.

Vallée notes other work completed as of Oct 15 includes:

• installation of new sanitary and storm sewers and watermains, including service laterals to affected properties, catch basins and fire hydrants,

• installation of new streetlights on all streets,

• placement of base-course asphalt on Finter Street and on Farnham Crescent between Sandridge Road and Arundel Avenue,

• start of driveway and pathway reinstatement.

An update later in October showed asphalt also laid on the other streets.

Work continuing

“Work is continuing across the project area, with additional reinstatement and finishing work required before the streets are considered complete,” Vallée says.

More specifically, she adds work still to be done includes:

• sidewalk and curb connections at St. Laurent and Sandridge, and at Kilbarry and Ava,

• final asphalt on Arundel, Farnham, Braemar, Jeffrey and Kilbarry south of Arundel, as well as final asphalt on Finter and Kilbarry north of Arundel,

• installation of new signs, adjusting maintenance hole frames and covers, and completing temporary line painting,

• completion of landscaping and property reinstatement, including driveways, walkways and yards,

• removal of the old streetlights and bringing the new streetlights into service.

“Final asphalt, maintenance hole frame and cover adjustments, and permanent line painting are scheduled to be completed this spring on Arundel, Farnham, Braemar, Jeffrey and Kilbarry south of Arundel,” the city manager notes.
