I’m so thrilled to share all the exciting things this spring at the Manor Park Community Centre! We’ve got plenty for you too look forward to and to get you through the rest of the winter!

March Break Camps return after a successful launch in 2022! We’ve also added Dungeons & Dragons Full-Day Camps that week as well for all the role playing game fans!

Hard to believe it but summer is just around the corner. Registration for summer day camps in Manor Park opened on March 1 at manorpark.ca!

We’re looking forward to another safe and exciting season of camp. Campers are guaranteed to have a blast playing outdoors on one of our many play structures, frolicking in the splash pad on hot days, and enjoying the shade in our grassy lawns. All our camp counsellors are experienced, enthusiastic, vaccinated and first aid, CPR certified! We’re known for our high level of organization, safety, and rave reviews from campers and families from all over!

And with warmer weather comes special events! Stay tuned to our social media for upcoming special events! Including Sip & Shop: Monthly Markets, visits from the Easter Bunny and Manor Park favourite–Pints in the Park, coming July 2023. Lots too look forward to! Hope to see you there!

Arts programming – Teens and adults (Ages 16 and up)

Calligraphy with Laurie Hemmings

Make all your occasions extra special by bringing back the tradition of calligraphy! Learn two different scripts so that you can apply your calligraphy to greeting cards, place settings, gift tags and more! This four-week course is for anyone wanting to learn the basics or hone their skills. All skill levels welcome. Supplies not included.

Acrylic Painting: Fundamentals with Lindsay Watson

A fun and creative class where you will get the most out of your acrylics! Learn the fundamentals of colour mixing, composition, and paint application while exploring traditional and non-traditional subject matter, such as landscapes, portraits, and abstraction. All levels welcome. Supplies not included.

Course instructor Lindsay Watson, BFA, a brings years of art and teaching experience. A teacher at the Ottawa School of Art and Shenkman Arts Center, her work can be found hung in the foyer of the Manor Park Community center, among other local art galleries.

Manor Park Knitting Circle

Get cozy with friends and neighbours, warm your hands with a new project and a cup of tea. Knitting circle is self guided – however our three experienced guides are present to assist if you need help with a certain project or goal. Bring your own supplies. Coffee and tea are included. Admission is free. Donations are welcome at manorpark.ca

Sound Bath Experience

Experience a relaxing, hour-long sound experience with Jennifer Bell of Ottawa Sound Therapy. Be immersed in the sounds of singing bowls, gongs, ocean drums, rainsticks and more. Bring a soft mat and blanket then drift away on soothing sound vibrations. Deeply relaxing, meditative, healing, grounding, calming and restorative. These are ways people have described their sound bath experience.

Class instructor Jennifer Bell has extensive training in the field, as a certified voice practitioner and Educator.

Kids’ Cooking Club: What’s for Dinner?

Join Donna in the kitchen to explore new recipes and cooking techniques! Kids will learn new flavours, ingredients, recipes – and the proper way to set a table! Kids will build their confidence in the kitchen while having fun with friends. Parents take the night off from cooking because – dinner is included! Each week the group will prepare a homecooked meal, and then sit down together at the dinner table to enjoy their hard work.

Terrarium Workshop

Kids will love creating their very own – easy to care for – terrarium! Lead by 11-year-old Selena and her mom, Nadia, workshop participants will exercise their creativity and decision-making while putting together their very own terrarium! Kids will also learn about plants and plant care, all while having fun! Drop-off the kids for a morning of educational and creative fun! All supplies included.

Dungeons & Dragons Online

Join the MPCC for a new season of Dungeons and Dragons! Become a player in the world’s most popular table top RPG. Players take on the role of a fantasy themed character and will work together to overcome various physical and mental obstacles introduced to them by the storyteller. Players will go on a weekly adventure cultivating their creativity, teamwork, decision-making, commitment, and character development skills.

Red Cross Babysitting Training Course

Top Choice Award 2022 – Best Babysitting Training Services. The Red Cross Babysitting Course will provide the training they need. This Babysitter training course is designed for youth aged 11 – 14. The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviours to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter.

March Break Dungeons & Dragons Camps (in-person)

Join our “Dungeon Master in Residence”, Doug Coughler, as we take our Dungeons & Dragons program from the computer screen to in-person. We will be running two full day sessions of Dungeons and Dragons during OCDSB March Break. In addition to playing the game, Doug will be sharing tips and tricks on how the players can play the game at home with their friends at little-to-no cost, and discussing some of the differences between in-person and online play.

New players are welcome and encouraged! No electronic devices are required. Pre-generated characters will be available, or you can make your own on the day of the session. Story and campaign will be the same on both Tuesday and Friday.

Your visit will include:

  • An outdoor visit and special photo with the real-life Easter Bunny!
  • A special Easter ‘basket’ filled with chocolate eggs and goodies!
  • The Easter Bunny will be hopping down a street near you – make sure to reserve your visit early!

Visit and delivery date: Saturday, April 1 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

We’ll snap your yearly Easter Bunny photo with a professional digital SLR camera, and send it straight to your email inbox! Set up your own photo display or add your own props!
