St. Columba welcomes new priest

St. Columba Parish is excited to announce the arrival of our new, “permanent” priest, Reverend Susan Lewis.
Throughout the last year, we were blessed to have the Venerable Pamela Yarrow, Reverend Canon Laurette Glasgow, Reverend Canon Baxter Park, Right Reverend Peter Coffin and Reverend Canon David Clune as temporary priests at St. Columba.
While we would have welcomed these priests to be with us on a longer-term basis, each of them has already retired once (and as Baxter would say, failed miserably at their retirement).
With great enthusiasm, St. Columba welcomes new priest Reverend Susan Lewis to St. Columba, and I am honoured to introduce her to the community.
Church and community
Susan most recently served as the associate priest in the parish of West Quebec – serving the past seven years in a team ministry capacity with her husband, the Venerable Eric Morin. In addition to serving in a multi-point parish, Susan has been the representative of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa to the Communion Forest Initiative, a global initiative to protect forests. She also sits on the Partnership Panel of our Diocese.
Susan was ordained in 2018 and received her Honours Bachelor of Theology and her Masters of Divinity from St. Paul University here in Ottawa. She practices contemplative prayer and believes we are not only responsible for tending Creation, but are an integral part of it, and that all human beings are God’s beloved.
Susan also believes the church has a significant role to play in connecting people to work for the betterment of all our communities.
First service Jan. 12
Before going into Ministry, Susan enjoyed a 20-year career in marketing and communications, with the last 10 years working primarily as a brand strategist, building ethical strategies and communications tools for nongovernmental organizations and professional associations.
Susan has many interests including her family: husband, Eric, three adult children, six grandchildren and a new great-grandchild. She is an avid gardener and will enjoy being part of the Manor Park Community Garden and the Pollinator Gardens at St. Columba.
Her first service with us was scheduled for January 12, where we had six Cantors and special music, both as a welcome for Susan and to celebrate the “Baptism of Christ”.
St. Columba welcomes new priest Reverend Susan Lewis to St. Columba and Manor Park and we invite the community to meet her, and the St. Columba congregation, by coming to a 10 a.m. Sunday service and joining our time of refreshments and fellowship that follows. St. Columba is located at 24 Sandridge Road.
